Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash… and I’m delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever!
Jeffrey Hunter is pretty wooden in the role (as are almost all the actors in The Cage). He comes across as a flat, somewhat listless characters with issues with women. Anson Mount plays the role with a much better sense of the humanity of Pike.
I’d love to see a literal remake but there are scenes that just wouldn’t work (eg. the creepy scene where the young female ensign speaks to him).
I wasn’t that impressed with M’Benga in season 1 but he’s had excellent character development this season. After this episode, I think he could be my favourite of the SNW crew!
Mostly on a basic kindle. I read pdfs and comic books on an ipad.
I’m waiting for a decent colour eink reader about same size as my kindle with stylus/writing support. From what I can see, they are nearly there… but not quite.
Take a look at OpenAudible.
I tried all sorts of stuff before getting OpenAudible and it works brilliantly. It costs about $20 (and there’s an upgrade about every year costing $8) but I’ve not upgraded and it still works perfectly.
The Beast You Are by Paul Tremblay. Short stories.
Thanks. I think the KFX one is what I use. I use a Kindle but always remove the DRM from my purchases.
Thanks for this. Going to take a look at the Autoshelf plugin.
I don’t use many plugins with Calibre except the deDRM ones. Are there any others that you think are useful?
A neglected series is Riverworld by Philip Jose Farmer. There are five volumes that are a great read.
All humanity is resurrected after death on the banks of a strange river. Each book deals with a real historical figure and the struggle to understand the mysteries of Riverworld. Each volume more or less follows characters from history (Richard Burton, Mark Twain, Cyrano de Bergerac and others) who embark on a journey to travel to the end of the River in order to solve the mystery of their resurrection. It’s quite pulpy but very enjoyable.
I do the same thing. I’ve tried Kavita and Audiobookshelf and ended up just keeping the books on a network share and then accessing them through Calibre. I am sideloading to a Kindle though.
