That’s why you want a national health care program funded by taxes (they call it health insurance, but it’s mandatory and based on income, so it’s a tax, really). Private insurance is still allowed, but everyone gets a baseline.
Sure, this system has got its share of problems, and they’re massive, but if you need care, you generally receive it regardless of your financial situation. Again, bureaucracy happens and there are waiting times etc. etc., but the idea that you may lose everything because you got sick is so alien to me I have no words.
It shouldn’t exist? I’d like to see you pay for your medical expenses out of pocket.

The amount of magical thinking around federated protocols both on Lemmy and Mastodon is astounding. Sure, design decisions make a difference, but federations gonna federate.
Recent. cAP AC (1yo) and cAP lite (3yo) are still running in my household, and RB4011iGS+RM (3yo) was until about a month ago.
What they say, plus I wouldn’t recommend Mikrotik HW, which I went with based on Reddit recommendations for much the same use case as yours. Pretty clunky to set up, had to debug some idiosyncracies with the help of the forums, their wireless gear is slow, and it all runs hot AF.

But since we’re all gathered here… I used to buy a lot of their stuff, and, well, now I don’t because they’ve gone to shit.
WTH do people do with their cables? I haven’t had one fray/fail on me… ever, and I pay zero attention to them.

Philips used to be a pretty decent brand, it’s gone down big time over the last decade. Ask me how I know.
