U.S. and British officials maintain that their attacks target “Houthi” military positions – ammunition stores and missile launch sites, but the reality of the ground tells a different story. Yemeni civilians say they are blind and indiscriminate and often leave civilians maimed or killed. Assuming the U.S. and UK are acting in good faith, it is clear that their intelligence information is lacking.
With visible sadness and anger, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi enumerated in a televised speech on Tuesday the reasons that motivate Yemen to continue operations to prevent international navigation supporting Israel in the Red Sea – the continued mass killing of the Gazans, renewed American support for Israel, including with lethal weapons and the use of internationally banned weapons against civilians in Gaza, including white phosphorus.
The US used chemical weapons against Gaza?? What? Where is any of the evidence of this? Genuinely curious.
Human Rights Watch reporting including pictures. Second hit from searching “white phosphorus gaza”, the first being a report of when Israel used it back in 2008.
Okay that’s what I thought I had heard originally, is there evidence that the US was supplying this chemical weapon?
So far it seems like that claim is twisting things a bit or is at least purposefully vague. All I read from the report was that Israel used chemical weapons.
To be fair, probably shouldn’t be supporting a country like who’s comfortable with chemical weapons like this.
14.5 billion dollars was sent since October 2023 in addition to the 3.8 billion dollars the U.S. sends every year. The U.S. Senate advanced another 14.1 billion dollar package to Israel this last Sunday.
If we are sending this much aid to a country to further it’s military goals, knowing full well the illegal tactics they are using it’s a bit of an endorsement don’t you think?
To top it all off the Houthis have been very clear that the aggression in the Red Sea will continue until Isreal stops the war in Gaza, yet we would rather double dip and send billions to Isreal while spending billions to defend the Red Sea instead of stopping a literal genocide. Which would cost us nothing.
No you see, it feels like the US supplied it and that’s good enough for them
Nah, see I just misread. Reading comprehension hard
See they say the support of the us, including the chemical weapons yadda yadda
They’re saying we support a country who’s comfortable with chemical weapons, not that we are supplying.
They’re already supporting a country comfortable with using internationally banned weapons against civilians for no apparent military goal*, destroying water treatment plants & cutting food supplies to starve a population, arresting children and torturing them, and ignoring all international law, all sponsored by the US.
In addition to bombing Yemen, one of the only 2 countries who took real action against the previous Israeli crimes.
Yeah I absolutely can’t find a reason why the US would hesitate to provide such weapons given their history with Israel.
Let’s remember all of this started when a group of people decided to kidnap ‘civilians’** to demand human rights for they population of Palestine, Israel was like: “We allowed enough food to satisfy your daily needs (Yes we calculated the calories so we don’t undercut you by much) and this is how you treat us”
*There’s at least 1 member of Hamas in Gaza, if we kill 100% of people in Gaza there’s a 100% we killed someone from Hamas; I don’t consider this a valid military goal.
** You live in the only democratic state in the area and allow the governemnt to do such things unmonitored (In the years before the war), and decide to live near the border in freshly stolen land, you hold some responsibility, and aren’t fully innocent. Also the raid was on a music festival, if you were partying while your neighbors - Gaza - are living in such conditions because of you, you deserve to be kidnapped and later killed by Israeli bombings, Hamas didn’t just attack random innocent civilians.
Edit: Sorry, I got too aggressive in the heat of moment, I deleted a block of text as a result. Also:
When I say you deserve to be later killed, I mean it in a sort of sarcastic way, that the fascist state you supported is what ends up killing you in cold blood, even if they managed to physically reach you, a sort of “die for being so much of a failure as to get abducted” message.
To quote that article: "The military said footage showed the hostages had removed their shirts and that one of them was waving a white flag but they were only identified as hostages after their bodies had been examined.’
Just a little technical note;
White phosphorus is not considered a chemical weapon because it operates primarily by heat and flame rather than toxicity, making it an incendiary weapon. Its use is governed by Protocol III of the Convention on Conventional Weapons (CCW)
Not saying that it can’t be used in bad ways but it has legitimate uses in combat areas (mostly as a flair) so the issue of supply, etc is not as simple as were it an actual chemical weapon

Look at !world@lemmy.world, which uses Media Bias/Fact Check as their North star,
which is run by a member of the Council on Foreign Relations[not the same person after all].Yes, but many posters have been telling other posters and mods on lemmy.world that mediabiasfactcheck site shouldn’t even be a consideration when checking for media bias.
The mods know this, most users probably know this, but they still punish you for not using that method.
One openly zionazi user even unbelievably and unironically said that mediabiasfactcheck is the gold standard.
So if the mods and admins at lemmy.world don’t care or change then most users definitely won’t.
I don’t think it’s actually the same Van Zandt, to be fair. MBFC guy registered the company in some house in the Midwest IIRC.
Oh, thanks! https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/contact/
Dave M. Van Zandt obtained a Communications Degree before pursuing a higher degree in the sciences. Dave currently works full time in the health care industry. Dave has spent more than 20 years as an arm chair researcher on media bias and its role in political influence. For the record, he also is not the President of the New School, that is a different David E. Van Zandt who is the head of a liberal college in New York City. I am an unaffiliated voter from North Carolina.
I guess he’s just some hobbyist who was in the right time at the right time, that time being the “post-truth” moment of Clinton’s loss to Trump and the string of Russiagate conspiracy theories and Kellyanne Conway’s alternative facts. Does anyone even remember the Cambridge Analytica post-truth hysteria?
Yeah, he’s literally just some random guy who started a glorified blog where he gives his vibes based opinion on different news outlets.
Fuck Israel.
