I remember that when I used Geometric Weather (not developed anymore, its more known fork is called Breeze Weather) it had a option to notify me when it was going to rain, but know that functionality was removed from Breeze Weather, it’s there any other app with this functionality?

Breezy Wheather on F-Droid? It’s one of my favorite FOSS apps on my phone.

I see an option for precipitation notifications in the settings. Check out its awesome widgets as well.

Thank you so much! I used it some weeks ago and I swear that when I tried to select any precipitation provider it only shown me one that didn’t have support for my country but now it seems fixed because it show me more providers.

Seconding Breezy, the app is way better than my phone’s (OnePlus 9p) default weather app. They also have a wide variety of widgets, including some with Material You theming for Android 13+.

install from izzyOnDroid repo instead of fDroid and you would still have the “precipitation nowcasting”

somebody needs to verify what i just wrote though. It must be about sources. In another machine which has the fDroid version, a couple of weeks ago i had a notification about my main source being dropped, which also dropped the precipitation nowcasting

    edit:

Version 5.2.0 (2024-04-15) - IMPORTANT changes - OpenWeatherMap OneCall API will no longer be available without requiring billing information in June 2024. As a consequence, we switched to other endpoints that unfortunately don’t support alerts and minutely. You will have to use a different secondary source if you want to keep receiving these info. If you use a custom API key, you might want to make sure your API key is subscribed to the following products: Current and 3-hourly.

Version 5.1.8 (2024-03-30) - Improvements and fixes - Precipitation nowcast is now a dedicated card

Version 5.1.0-beta (2024-03-08) - Breezy Weather now comes in 3 flavors:

    • Standard: this is the version you used so far
    • Google Play: same as Standard + proprietary Fused location from Google Play Services. Useful if you use “Current location” feature AND have Google Play Services installed on your device. Otherwise, you should use the standard version.
    • F-Droid: this version removes support for any weather sources which are not libre and self-hostable, so you are sure to get a 100% FOSS experience and not connect by mistake to a non-free network. There are plans to add this version to the default F-Droid repository.

It’s not open source but Rain Alarm draws a circle around you on the map and alerts you if weather radar detects any precipitation entering that circle. I don’t know if that’s what you want but it’s what I want in a rain notification and it’s the only app I’m aware of that does it.
