Yep, also had a “bad” experience recently with divorce. Still not feeling back to 100%, but I know deep down that a happy, functional relationship is just around the corner. I could meet them at any point, and if we’re true partners, we’ll find a way to be happy with eachother. It’s a little tough to remain optimistic, but it’s dramatically better than giving up and being cold and pessimistic for the rest of my life!

One of the fundamental principals of the RCRA is that dilution is not an allowable solution to pollution. Otherwise, you could just say that any amount of pollution is below applicable concentrations after it mixed into the oceans, atmosphere, whatever. And any company could emit as much as they wanted as long as they diluted it. Oil spills could simply be left alone because they’d eventually distribute throughout the earth.

Concentrations must be considered as they occur in their process streams. The process stream must meet certain requirements first and foremost, and it must be further checked to see if that could significantly affect the air or water in which it is emitted, just to make sure its good to go since water flow, temperature, and wildlife migration change throughout the year. The same is true for air emissions as well.

Forgotten benefits of gasoline: you can fix it yourself and you’re not locked into a shiny new consumerist downward spiral that demands you buy a new vehicle every ten years when the car can’t go 200 miles in a single charge anymore? And the next guy who gets the battery powered vehicle is just worse off than you were, as the poorer along us suffer even worse condition vehicles and the risk of massive expenses in the way of new battery failure. Why is nobody concerned with the fact that batteries are going to lock us into excess and unavoidable consumerism as they degrade? Engines -might- fail, but batteries -will- fail.

List one battery powered device that isn’t basically disposable.

The other guy is being dumb. He’s trying to tell people what they do and don’t need, and that’s not going to work; especially when you are considering people who are stuck on ICE cars for the exact reasons you’re saying.

I love my ICE vehicle, but I’ve said many times that I’d consider a battery powered vehicle when I can get 500+ mile range. The last thing I’m going to do is allow myself be inconvenienced by something I don’t care about, and this is the story here. I’m passionate about my WRX, but I could never be passionate about a battery and electric motors. When I switch, it’ll only be because the benefit is incredible and undeniable. People will simply not convince me that a 300 mile range in optimal conditions is going to suit me, because things never play out like the paper specs say.

If YouTube were an independent company, I would be much happier to pay like I do for Spotify and even (borderline) Paramount Plus. I have no problem paying artists for their time, and I have spent thousands and thousands on commissions and merchandise from independent people and art businesses. Google already has enough money. I would rather save my money for small(er) companies who actually need it.

If people stopped supporting these ultra-consolidated megacorporations, we might have a healthier economy and better worker’s rights overall. But what do I know lol

I’m uninterested in dividing the group and speaking to an echo chamber. The only place it matters are the places people don’t automatically agree with you, and me with them.

Lemmy might not be the future. The mods are just as oversensitive and overzealous as the Reddit mods. I was banned from the Vegan forum for telling them that they are never going to convince meat eaters to stop eating meat based on animal rights issues, because nobody cared about animal rights like they do. Sorry, but its true. I have also had an entire comment chain deleted from an Unpopular Opinion thread–I don’t even care to go back and check what it was all about, but I can guarantee it was because I wasn’t conforming to popular opinion.

And this is happening to a person that is generally in tune with everything people are saying here–I can’t imagine the valuable insights that we may be losing to moderator action that I never even get to see.

Yeah, it’s silly. It’s an entire industry built on “frivolous”, optional consumption. They are making a killing even WITH piracy. They (the studios, etc.) make so much money that they can afford to selectively offer their product only to certain streaming services, region locked, and some of them have even paid to develop their own streaming platforms just for fun.

All they have to do is put their product on the real market, let any platform stream it for a licensing fee, and offer things that people actually want to buy: physical media and silly trinkets.

They’re trying to squeeze blood from a stone. If they were struggling, they’d just let me buy their product for a reasonable fee instead of making me jump through hoops and watch commercials.

That might have been the original point. Men wear lifts to feel more “manly”, reaffirming their perceived gender. Trans people undergo gender affirming care to feel more like their own perceived gender. The difference is just that other people may not perceive the trans person’s gender the same as they do.

Because the conservative Right needs to grasp at literally anything to scare their voters into submission, otherwise they might start wondering what the Republicans are actually bringing to the table.

Who’s even asking for this legislation? The trans community is so small, and it comes down to personal freedom at the end of the day. The only argument I’ve heard against allowing young people to transition is that they might later “regret” it or something. Which other legislation do we have that is based on helping people not “regret” having made a decision? Allow people to live their lives. All they’ve done is bring national attention to an issue that needed no attention whatsoever.

This is a prime example of minority oppression.
