The law does not currently prevent me from doing anything I want to do.
I like American music. Do you like American music? I like American music, too, baby.

I wasn’t sure, I’m in the Ask muni on both.
users on their instance, not users from their instance. This account is from midwest.social but currently commenting on… uh, lemmy.world, right?
Because it is the duty of parents to support their children, and this is desirable for the purposes of a stable society, and the purpise of law is to protect the stability of society?
I have a lot of original content, mostly Tom Swifty jokes here on lemmy at !tomswifty@midwest.social
Three words:
Bizarre public art!
I got a lot of help from HUD and FHA when I bought my house. I couldn’t have afforded to buy and renovate my home when I did without that program, which is only for first-time buyers. The program also helps housing supply by renovating unfit older buildings into usable housing stock.
So, at least in the US in general and Chicago specifically, gov’t is doing things to help first-time buyers.
so, flautas?
Twenty, even fifteen years ago I would’ve said Windows Notepad / vim. Now I rarely use basic text editors.
I don’t think there’s any technology that can never be superseded.
So, in this hypothetical we have a time machine, and can see not just if Dems lose but also what the consequences of that loss are. Further GOP court-packing? Loss of human rights for other vulnerable groups? Or maybe just a continuation of the status quo? With the time machine, we would know. Because the Dems winning or losing is not a good or evil in itself, but the consequences could be.
But, real word time now, we can’t know all the consequences of our actions. We should always try to achieve the best results we can, of course, but you can’t do something you know is wrong (like stay silent on trans rights) in the hopes that an evil now will lead to a greater good later, or prevent a greater evil. That’s my take, but what else can you expect from a virtue ethicist?
Best Coast is very fun.
Sounds great! I’ll keep adding tracks as I think of them. Liked that Astropol track, BTW.
Jenny Lewis — “Head Underwater”
Cordelia’s Dad — “Little Speckled Egg”
Cracker — “Guarded by Monkeys”
Freelance Whales — “Generator ^ First Floor”
Minus the Bear — “Let’s Play Guitar in a Five Guitar Band”
You’re gonna share the playlist when you’re done, right?
This one might be too mainstream, but:
Iron & Wine — “Woman King”
It needs something to provide crunch, as a textural counterpoint to the warm softness of the bun and patty. Lettuce, raw onion, potato chips each work, just pick ONE.
It needs acidic elements to cut the fatty richness. Mustard, pickles, fresh tomato, these you can double up on.
It needs a patty that holds together. I love a blackbean burger but most of them fall apart, might as well call it a blackbean sloppy joe.
It needs to fit in my mouth without squirting condiments out the other side.
It needs catsup, independent of all other requirements. You cannot leave off or replace the catsup.
Yes.
My daughters love “Battle for Polytopia”. Some DLC but not infinite.
For once it’s not just work! There’s still plenty of work, though: Monday is the first day of school and we’re pulling out all the school uniforms, making sure everything fits, seeing where the gaps are. Backpacks are already stuffed with necessary supplies. So the last thing is to soak up as much pool and waterslide fun as we can!
She’ll need to work with the home country to get baby issued appropriate citizenship and identity documents, but just to travel home? Birth cert and mother’s docs should be enough.
Not from within the “comment reply” action, sadly.
