They were probably like, “Finally, I can go to a company that doesn’t force me to use a Dell.”

Does anyone know if the coop can be played “locally” from switch to switch or is it only online?
I have a flight coming up with some friends, and it’d sure be cool to just play this on the plane with them.
That’s certainly a possibility. I just have this feeling that Nintendo doesn’t have any other games than what they showed us in this direct to fill up a whole extra year. Of course, that’s just a feeling.
And I feel like they may follow the Switch playbook where they show off the console in December - probably during the game awards or (ugh) on Jimmy Fallon like they did last time. Then launch in four to six months with Metroid.
If you look to the left of the screen it does look like there are 4 shortcut slots, one in this video taken up by the wand. My hope is that she gets some other items to use along with the wand. Zelda has always had bows, for example, so that’d fit right in.
I had a very similar thought myself.
They said the next big Zelda was going to be different than TotK/BotW style, so after getting some baseline skills/items/ideas that Zelda uses in this game, they could leverage that for the next big game where you can swap between the two.
It’d just be cool to play as Zelda in 3D.
Wait, you mean the girl with the wand is not Link?
The Legend of Link
By saying just “2025” this solidifies in my mind that this will be the cross gen game that launches with the Switch 2 around April or May or whatever.
Yeah, I agree with this take, though I did see an article that quoted Tim as saying they wouldn’t be able to totally get rid of hallucinations, so I’m still a little reserved on it all.
The biggest thing in the last couple of weeks is Microsoft showing off the half baked Recall “feature” that let your computer take photos of basically everything you do. The idea that you could search for something you did in the past using normal language is interesting, but the implementation was terrible. So that’s a big strike against MS, so much so they now are recalling the beta release of that. MS doesn’t have a good track record with things that are supposed to be local that somehow end up not local; I believe there was a big issue on xbox where local screenshots were still being monitored by the cloud somewhere. MS also loves shoving ads down your throat and turning back on features you have explicitly turned off. There’s no trust.
Apple certainly has their own issues, but as others have said, they have at least outwardly been a privacy first company, at least in marketing materials. They were one of the first to build in “secure enclaves” into phones and PCs so biometrics couldn’t get off of your device, for example. There’s a bit of a history, earned or otherwise, that Apple isn’t doing bad things with your data, so when they say their AI junk is private it’s easier to swallow.
That said, I still have yet to find a use for any of this AI junk across all platforms. I wish it all just stayed in the realm of intelligently making your photos a little sharper or whatever and not hallucinating things out of whole cloth. I’m actually happy my iPhone isn’t new enough to take advantage of this new stuff.
Sure but not built in where you can then do an OS search like “find me text from the call I was just on where it showed their password for a moment.”
Something I didn’t think about until I saw someone making a post about it on Mastodon is that you may not have to worry about just YOUR PC, but what happens when you are on a zoom call or using another screen sharing app and THEIR PC is taking screen shots?
Now you just can’t worry about your own machine, but every machine out there that might interact with you in that type of way could be capturing data. And if you accidentally have your email up or maybe a password manager, could their PC just be gobbling that up without you knowing?
I assume this article is about how I want to pull my hair out when trying to do anything in that program because everything feels so obtuse and weird and nothing else.
Oh wow. It looks like Nintendo is doing so poorly. They should probably sell to another company.*
*things crazy people say
Yeah, for sure!
Here’s a link to one I found. I think I watched this a couple years ago because I myself wanted a refresher about the story before the third one.
While I do think 1 is great (and my favorite until 3 came out), playing 1 and 2 will take LOTS OF TIME, and if you don’t want to churn out a couple hundred hours on both I’d suggest watching some videos on YouTube about the stories. I know there are a few that recap 1 and 2 that came out before 3’s launch.
I think 3 is absolutely worth playing, though. That game hit me with emotions I hadn’t felt from a game in a long time, and I still can’t listen to some of the music tracks without welling up. For me it was easily the best game of 2022.
You know, sometimes I see a comment here or there complaining that Nintendo doesn’t have their games on Xbox or PlayStation. That they should just sell themselves to do that.
This is why they don’t. Get ready for a Switch 2 that by all measure will be “too weak to play modern games,” and then Nintendo will turn around and sell millions of systems and games.
I hope they announce they are working on it, and it becomes a launch title for Switch 2 — along with WaveRace, baybeee. We need to be racin’ them waves.
Ultimate is a top tier game, but I do see your concern with only being able to play handheld. I can personally play it handheld for a while and not feel too bad (by that I mean hand cramps), but it certainly does feel 100x better on a TV.
What I might ask is if you are planning on getting a Switch 2 next year. If so, we can reasonably assume the form factor will be about the same and you’ll get the TV access. Everything we’ve heard so far says Switch games will work with the Switch 2. So in the short term you may not be able to play with friends locally on the same screen, within the year we’ll have a new system and in the meantime get some good experience with the game with what you have now.
I do still play online, and there’s still a community there, so at least you’ll be able to play with other people that way.
