I didn’t notice it when the tub was new, but after using it yesterday I started to notice the same sort of volatile hit that I get when I take the lid off of Mood Indigo. I don’t think it’s a base funk, because I don’t get it with Tobacconist or Santa Noir, so maybe it’s the same accord used in both scents. It’s honestly not that pleasant of a smell, but it dissipates pretty quickly, allowing the rest of the scent through. And what a great scent U&I(WD) is.
