WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. Vice President JD Vance said that he’s joining his wife on a Friday trip to Greenland, suggesting in an online video that global security is at stake.

“We’re going to check out how things are going there,” Vance said in a video shared Tuesday. “Speaking for President Trump, we want to reinvigorate the security of the people of Greenland because we think it’s important to protecting the security of the entire world.”

Why can’t Greenland officials meet them at the airport, detain while going through their social media , and then put them back on the plane and tell them to not come back? I think that would be fair.

      You don’t need, that comma.

But I’d like to point out that this isn’t a criticism of, your comment. Just, the punctuation. I’m, sorry. And I will now take, my downvotes. See you, tomorrow.

Maybe they should have their cell phones searched just like those Europeans trying to enter the U.S… It’s not like any Signal threads JD may or may not be on have classified information, right?

Interesting point. Can the US military just fly anyone they like into their overseas bases in Europe etc, then just exit the base into the hosting country, having skipped immigration controls?

Well technically they can fly anyone into them, nothing stops the host country denying them entry if they try to leave the base though.

Probably wouldn’t ever happen except in a very rare case like this one but yeah it could happen somewhere the way America’s been trolling Europe in general.

The us can control anything they want.

Foreign minister shows up with a paper reading persona non grata, that’s it.

And how do you picture the Danish Foreign Minister getting to this air base that is the only one in the region, and getting past the American security?

why do I have a feeling they are going to provoke/fake some kind of incident that would “justify” an attempt at US military “intervention”

tinfoils maybe Usha thinks “they’ll” kill her in Greenland to start a war between the US and Greenland so she’s taking her husband as insurance that won’t happen.

Untinfoils most likely she knows they’re hated and doesn’t want to face the unwantedness/hostility/embarassment of going where she’s unwanted.

If they did this. I don’t even think Trump would care. Probably tell the press “he doesn’t know anything about it, you’re telling me for the first time”.

Then Pete gets drunk and forgets to launch the rescue mission. No one would miss JV Vance anyways.

Once the rescue mission is finally underway, they accidentally add the Prime Minister of Greenland to the thread where they’re discussing battle plans.

I hope Greenlanders chase him away like Vermonters did. Let him know he can’t go anywhere without people making it known how much they don’t want a little sycophantic dweeb like him around.

That’s so aggressive, but not new. Let’s not forget the US is an imperial power who has constantly deposed and invaded other countries.

If there isn’t at least one snowball to the face I’ll be disappointed in Greenland.

I’d also be cool with people reviving the tradition of throwing shoes at republican fuckers.
