Good Morning Sandalwood
I really enjoyed using this new Cella scent. It’s a light sandalwood with a citrus top.
Inaugural Buena Vista Wetshaving Social Club Shave
It’s been a while since I’ve used Don Josè, but the banana and coconut in this scent are excellent. I had forgotten the strength of the menthol in this one. It’s not overpowering, but it’s got a chill to it.
Today was my first use of the Foundry B16 brush. I need a couple more uses on this one, but it feels like it will be a great knot. It took a bit longer to dial in the lather, and it was low-structured and slick. The MM24 gave a flawless shave as usual.
Going from banana and coconut to pineapple and coconut with Coconut Nana’s proved to be a great transition, and Agua Fresca nicely concluded the Summer themed shave.
I’m looking forward to the next BVSC shave.
Yeah, I think that’s a great idea.
I’ve heard this before about Marilyn. The soap sample I had was okay, but it didn’t speak to me either. I might have to try getting a hold of the fragrance…

The scent notes for Roam Two (2.0) are listed as Tobacco, Grass, Soil, Thyme, Sage, Leather, Coffee, Pink Pepper, Juniper, Cypriol, Ginger, Musk, and Black Currant. It opened bright and tangy, but it didn’t last long. There were hints of tobacco and leather, but not much more. The scent overall didn’t live up to the hype of the original Roam, but I have no basis for comparison with the original.
Lonestar also starts with a similar bright, tanginess, but it opens up in a completely different way, making it a very enjoyable scent.
My wife, who knew nothing about the soap, struggled to get anything approaching avocado. I think it’s more the suggestion of avocado.
I agree that Nirvana is amazing.
🦣 Mammoth Monday: Avocado 🥑
I tried out the sample of Avocado I received from HoM. It’s an earthy and fresh scent, and it paired nicely with the fig notes in Nirvana and Just Right for a Tuesday.
I’ve seen some good reviews of this one. Where does it fall in terms of sweetness?
I’ll nominate Macduffs’ Old Strathcona, an earthy barbershop/fougère fit for fall.

Beautiful florals and fruits in today’s Summertime shave.
Technically it’s just a R41 head on the handle of my R89. If you were to buy it new though, it’s listed as the MUH-R41BLACK.
Which version do you have?

It’s in the Ultima base. I couldn’t really tell much of a difference over the Kaizen base, but it was only my first shave with it. Maybe it’s a little thirstier, but good performance nonetheless. Signature does look like it would be nice.

Lavendursday: Lavender Noir
Excellent shave this morning! Lavender Noir is a subtly dark, lavender scent that just hits all the boxes. Once I tried the splash, I knew I had to get the soap as well.
Pencil Pusher
The scent notes for Pencil Pusher are listed as “cedar, just cedar, and only cedar.” That said, it doesn’t smell like an old cedar chest, and it comes really close to smelling like No.2 pencils.
This is also my first time trying the new Veggiebus base. The lather seemed to perform similarly to it’s tallow sibling.

Is it weird that “rotten chewing gum” has me more intrigued than being turned off by it?
Ausflug
Ausflug is such a uniquely beautiful scent that I think I might have found my AA soap. I’ll admit that I struggled to find scents to pair with this one. I think that Fleur de France worked really well with it, and Monarch rounded out the shave. These are possible contenders for AA as well.
Fougère Friday: Passiflora Trifecta
I had other plans for the shave today, but when I woke up, Passiflora is what I was craving. It never disappoints.
