    Listen to the Raconteur’s tale

    • Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts Papa Eld with Declaration Grooming B3 knot
    • Razor: Böker S.S. Paris Wins
    • Lather: Australian Private Reserve Raconteur
    • Aftershave: Summer Break Soaps Valedictorian
    • Fragrance: Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille

I’m really spoiled with my hard and software these days. This razor and brush are just wonderful in performance, ergonomics, and looks, and I’m trying new combinations of software from my bloated den. Warm, rich Raconteur doesn’t share scent notes with smoky, tobacco-y Valedictorian as far as I can tell, but they live in similar spot in my mind, and indeed, they really complement each other. Tobacco Vanille is the clean, tame, and rich cousin of Valedictorian. This scent progression isn’t a picture, it’s a story. A riveting one.

That’s an interesting combination. What prompted you to try it?

Both Raconteur and Valedictorian have a lot going on, scent note-wise, to create a warm, playfully rugged masculine scent. Raconteur centres the fragrance on leather, and Valedictorian on tobacco, so they take a different path, but end up in a similar place.

Adding Valedictorian pushed Raconteur a bit into the direction of APR Eclipse, if that makes sense?
