Being completely insulated. Living in a strictly white community with conservative norms easily allows people like this to flourish.

Nah, this is far more intentional and less subtle. This is to get attention, for show. To get the ear of Donald Trump and his ilk.

Psychopathy. It’s really that simple. People aren’t people, they are objects in the environment to manipulate.

My mum is like this. She’s in her late 70s now, it’s getting worse and becoming a real problem in our relationship. She has this almost hysterical fear and dislike of immigrants, but she can’t really say why. Just random stuff about how they are taking away our traditional way of life. She lives in a very white area, I live in a multicultural inner city, and on the rare occasions she visits she is shocked - “Look, she’s wearing one of those hijab things!”

She was always politically naive and a bit racist but never this bad. I suspect it’s largely due to the media she consumes and the people she hangs out with.

I’m pretry much on board for replacing *ist/*phobic with just plain weird now. Enough of them seem to equate being called racist/sexist/transphobic or whatever with eliciting anger, which is what they thrive on.

There’s still a time and place for the specific (and accurate) labels, but many of these clowns are just sad and, well, weird attention-seekers.

I’m with this and have started at it myself when applicable. It also saves you time because it doesn’t trigger that 3 hour pre programmed rant even though you said the exact same thing.

The other day in a meme channel of all things, in reply to some dumb Taco Bell “in the ad, in reality” image dude goes off about how the right image is actually a Weiner that identies as a taco, so i replied with “pretty fucking weird to be that obsessed with what strangers have in their takeout bag”

He didnt have anything to say to that lol

Reminds me of that scene from the office

Michael Scott: … colored greens …

      Stanley: It’s collard greens.

      Michael Scott: What?

      Stanley: It’s collard greens.

Michael Scott: That doesn’t really make any sense. You don’t call them collard people. That’s offensive.

As a white man, I love collard greens and corn bread. I can understand how it became associated with (poor) black communities, but damn is it good. It shouldn’t be an insult like some people make it.

I live in the South. Nobody here ever heard of “Soul Food”.

Everybody eats that because it’s awesome.

Go to a meat and three after Church on Sunday. You will see it full of happy old White People eating exactly what you described.

I’ve got a whole song arranged for Appalachian/mountain dulcimer about how great collard greens are. Iirc it’s by the prolific author “traditional”.

Edit: oops, it’s about turnip greens. Totally different.

Yeah collard greens. There was a video where Harris gave her recipe when asked by someone…you know just once like a normal human being responding directly to a question.

Apparently Loomer thinks that’s wasting too much time instead of talking about the issues that matter: made up racist allegations that have already been investigated and aren’t actually happening.

How much money and status is realistically left?

An old man and convicted felon who is in obvious mental decline with an unstable empire who cheats on you publicly… she could probably do better financially off a book deal and interview tour.

Not only that, being his second? Third? Wife, she absolutely had to sign a very good prenup.

She went into this with eyes wide open, as a top level gold digger. If she was worried about her image, she never would have married him to begin with.
