This is why I am still apprehensive in regards to straight razor shaving

It’s true that straights don’t forgive errors, and the learning curve is real, but it’s a really satisfying skill to learn. It’s a bit like taking off the training wheels: you’ll fall and it’ll hurt a bit, but it’s much more fun with them off 😉
