Not really a new purchase, but I’ve honed and used this stainless Dovo for the first time today:
I think these have a rather mediocre reputation, as being cheaply made (by German standards) and of inferior quality, compared to less mass produced brands like Ralf Aust or Koraat (or even Böker).
But I can’t find anything wrong with it and it gave me a stellar shave this morning. Shrug.
I had found this razor at a good price in the Swiss competitor to eBay and originally planned to use it for Lather Games 2023, but now I’m thinking it’s a good travel straight, because it can’t rust and it’s not expensive enough to worry about it in luggage.
I like the gold etching.

I took my Dovo Bismarck on my last trip. I knew I could easily replace it if it was lost. I was very attentive about keeping it dry which isn’t always easy if you’re in a rush. In future travels (next is this Friday) I think stainless is the way to go.
Yes, having to worry about keeping a straight dry and safe while traveling can be annoying. But for my last trip to Stockholm, I had to choose my Heljestrand for obvious reasons😅
