The Stag soap burn is really never too bad for me, but I have noticed that the severity of it does seem to change from shave to shave. Today for example was a very mild burn. Maybe my lathering process was a little different today (I took my time with it today), making it more similar to using a bowl?
If you face lather, you scrub the soap with the bristles against your skin much more than if you build the lather in a bowlqnd then only apply it on your face. At least for me, I noticed a clear difference.
Ah, that totally makes sense. I generally prefer face lathering but might give that a try. I have a scuttle I haven’t used in forever, this might be a good time to use it, especially now that the weather is cold.
