Since most knives are curved, knife sharpeners thinking nothing about it. But, it does take a while to become comfortable with curvy shapes. I did a video on honing a smiling razor, but I don’t think it was very informative. My Koraat 7/8 has a good smile to it, but it was honed in November and that damn steel never gives up an edge ;-). I’ll do another smiling edge video if I get a good example. Perhaps @whosgotthepudding can help me find one.

Thank you for watching the video. I hope there was something useful in there for you. The abalone scales on the TI are much more interesting IRL because they change as the light moves. The 7/8 full hollow from TI is excellent. My other TIs are 6/8. I noticed the difference immediately.

I’m at the stage where I dislike honing smiling razors, but I feel I’m not doing to bad (also thanks to you and your videos!)

Your videos are always helpful, and I like your “rambling” style – because some things simply cannot be shown while doing (for instance, where you put what kind of pressure). Carry on with your good work!
