2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
Like my other SV soaps, I don’t use Morado enough. The scent works in late spring and summer, but I think it matches perfectly to the cooler part of the year. Wonderful stuff.
Today was my first trial of a razor for AA. The Facharbeit is a stainless steel razor and, therefore, not even worth purchasing, let alone using for a face shave. I should probably use it to open boxes or letters. Yet, I got an excellent shave from this razor. Probably a fluke since, again, it is stainless steel, and we all know that stainless steel razors suck. If I check back in my records I see that I have four stainless steel razors. I probably purchased them based on bling and didn’t notice the type of steel. Yet, my previous shaves with these razors were also excellent. I wonder if technique matters, or bias comes into play?

🦣 Mammoth Monday: Avocado 🥑
- Brush: Declaration Grooming Magic Hour 28mm B8 Badger Knot
- Razor: Blackland Razors Blackbird Ti
- Blade: Gillette Platinum [6]
- Lather: House of Mammoth - Avocado - Soap
- Post Shave: Westman Shaving - Nirvana - Splash
- Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Just Right for a Tuesday - Eau de Parfum
I tried out the sample of Avocado I received from HoM. It’s an earthy and fresh scent, and it paired nicely with the fig notes in Nirvana and Just Right for a Tuesday.
I can’t imagine Avocado as appealing for a shave soap. But Nirvana … Tiago created a wonderful, elegant scent imo.
My wife, who knew nothing about the soap, struggled to get anything approaching avocado. I think it’s more the suggestion of avocado.
I agree that Nirvana is amazing.
WestMan feels a bit undiscovered and Tiago’s work is excellent. Perhaps Nirvana can be a suggestion for the October BVWSC.
Yeah, I think that’s a great idea.

- Brush: Maggard 24mm Synthetic
- Razor: MMOC Gen 2
- Blade: Personna GEM PTFE (1)
- Lather: Barrister & Mann - Petrichor - Soap
- Post Shave: Barrister & Mann - Reserve Fern - Aftershave
- Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Mood Indigo - Balm
I’m a self-professed mild-boi, but the Micro-Matic Open Comb is still a favorite of mine. It’s not as bad as people make it out to be. A light touch and it feels nice and tame. A very close shave.
I’m determined to kill this balm. It’s getting low, but this stuff lasts a very long time. I don’t know why I want to get rid of it so much. It doesn’t take up that much space. I think I might just be someone who prefers commercial balms over the artisan options.

It’s been a long time since I last nicked my ear – turns out I still know how to do it. Otherwise, good shave. I slowly manage to get as close a shave on the chin as with a DE.
Have a good night!
