    Bay Day

    • Brush: Maritime Brush Co Box Puffer 24mm M5C Synthentic Knot
    • Razor: Mühle R41
    • Blade: Gillette 7 O’Clock Super Stainless (Green) [11]
    • Lather: Noble Otter - Plunder - Soap
    • Post Shave: Abbate y La Mantia - Laureato - Aftershave
    • Fragrance: Chicago Grooming Co. - El Caballero - Eau de Parfum

The R41, in combination with NO’s lather, made quick work of the beard this morning. Plunder’s smokey/fresh scent paired with Laureato’s refined bay note made the shave very enjoyable.

      Bay Day

Sounds like a distress call with a stuffy nose. Everything alright? 😅

      R41++;

I have to try Laureato again. I know I’ve tried it, but can’t remember it at all.

Wonderful shave today. Glad to be back with a straight shave after two days of DE shaving. I never thought I’d see DE shaving quite this way.

I’m a big fan of smushing. I think I’ve smushed my tub of Petrichor twice so far.

Hope you’ll have a speedy (and smooth) recovery. One of my very first shaves with the Wilkinson Classic and the included blades went like this too. Hopefully this won’t dissuade you from safety razors - I promise not all of them are as harsh!

Also, greetings by a fellow german!

Personally I can’t stand Wilkinson Sword DE blades, tried them at various times throughout the years and every time they sucked. Harsh, not as sharp as they need to be but still enough to cause some bleeding. IMHO a sample pack like those of Razor Blades Club from Sweden are a good choice to find your ideal blade. I myself shave really comfortable with BIC Chrome Platinum, Perma-Sharp and Rapira Platinum Lux. Shavettes are also very unforgiving, even more than a real straight razor. The only ones I’d recommend there are those who could take guarded AC blades, like Feather and KAI. But those are a bit more pricey than your typical turkish barber shavette.

    • Brush: Maggard 24mm Synthetic
    • Razor: Blackland Era - Level 3 SB
    • Blade: Personna Lab Blue (11)
    • Lather: Central Texas Soaps - Down By The River - Soap
    • Post Shave: Chatillon Lux - Gratiot League Square - Aftershave

The Era, especially Level 3, is such a nice buffer. That might be why I like it so much. Just buff buff buff all day long, nice close shave, feels good.

Tuesday, July 30, 2024: Summer Whine

It’s extremely hot today – 36 degrees 🥵 🥵 , and we may be getting thunderstorms in the evening. Refreshment is badly needed! In our flat, we had everything closed the whole day, but we’re still above 28 degrees. I had trouble working today, because focusing in this heat is not obvious.

While shaving, I was listening to the original Summer Wine, but there’s also the cover version by Alex Kapranos.
