Twenty-first Day of Getting a Grip on TabOKtoberfest

    • Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts Tabak Oridjinal
    • Razor: Henkotsu Kamisori
    • Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
    • Post Shave: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
    • Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original

I finally got my cord and had the time to wrap that kamisori handle, and it’s instantly paid off. The bigger, grippier handle lets me hold the kamisori more safely, and most of all with a much looser grip. It’s easier to have a light hand and it feels more controlled. One thing that I intuitively started doing is rolling the handle between my fingers when following the contours of my neck/jawline to keep the angle. With a western straight, I’d do that by rotating my wrist, so the techniques are diverging fast.

Great shave, three passes using the omote side everywhere. I’m still much shower than with a western straight, but I think the results start to be comparable.

    Stank ++;

Yeah, I’d think wrapping the handle would make a huge difference. I found an old video of someone using the omote side for a one-handed kamisori shave. I’d think there would be more options using two hands, but it still seems awkward.

That’s what I’m doing. The geometry really favours using only the right hand. It felt super awkward at first as you can imagine, but it gets easier quickly

    • Brush: Elite Razor Neo-resinate 26mm Mother Lode
    • Razor: Wolfman Razors WR4/WRH3
    • Blade: Feather Artist Club Professional (1)
    • Lather: Barrister and Mann - Hallows - Soap
    • Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Hallows - Aftershave
    • Post Shave: Thayers - Lemon - Toner
    • Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Hallows - Eau de Toilette

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

I enjoy most scents and I enjoy having a wide variety from which to chose. The scent of Hallows just makes me want to use it everyday and forget all others. Leviathan affected me this way, too.

The WR4 and Feather AC Professional provided a very close comfortable shave. The WR4 just feels natural in-hand. Such an easy shaver. The geometry of this razor suits me perfectly but what I appreciate the most is the Wolfman quality of workmanship which is extraordinary.

I can’t tell much difference between the first use of the Professional and yesterday’s sixth use of the ProGuard. I suspect this is because the razor makes it so easy for me to find the edge and set its angle.

    • Brush: Simpson Trafalgar T3
    • Razor: Timeless .68 SS Scalloped
    • Blade: Bolzano Superinox (German) (3)
    • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Stirling Gentleman
    • Post Shave: Chatillon Lux - Lamplight Penance - Toner
    • Fragrance: Eau Factory - Noble - EdT

Almost missed a day posting! Lemmy was having trouble yesterday so I couldn’t get it to submit. She’s chooching now, though!

CL Toner is so very very rich… today I only used a couple of small shakes and it was plenty. Lamplight Penance is a super strong scent, so using only a little bit of toner helped in that department too. Skin is feeling pretty pretty good.
