2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Today I’m bringing out the Boltzmann. I’m not sure that anyone wants to study it, but if you have been required to study thermodynamics, then you’ve encountered Boltzmann [and Boltzmann’s constant] who is, literally, the Entropy Man. He and others of his time in this field were either geniuses or doing some seriously good drugs.

Probably my background has biased me, but statistical mechanics and thermodynamics are among the coolest things one can study in classical physics. They explain like 75% of all counterintuitive phenomena around us! 😃

Yeah, I don’t disagree. I think some of the core concepts in thermodynamics are, as you say, counterintuitive and this represents a high hurdle for some.

    Saturday, February 17, 2024: Barbarossa!

I’m back to toying (no pun intended) with the Barbarossa. Since it’s so small, I thought I would try a 1-1 grip on the razor – which was a terrible idea, and I promptly cut myself. So consider yourself warned. Other than that, it was actually a nice shave.

I got the Terre d’Hermès after shave as a gift, and I’m not that impressed with the bottle itself. The neck is too short and not that functional, and the faux-metal on the plastic cap is rotting off, leaving a blackish residue. It still smells very good, though – but I guess that you get better value with the Stirling after shave.

    Have a nice day!

    • Brush: Stirling 24mm Synthetic
    • Blade: Cien Men 2-Blade Cart (6)
    • Lather: Noble Otter - Batters Up - Soap
    • Post Shave: Spearhead - Seaforth! Heather - Toner
    • Post Shave: Goodfellow & Co. - Face Lotion - Kelp & Sea Mineral

Went to Mertz/Smallflower/Q-Brothers with VisceralWatch yesterday and he enabled me to increase my soap count.

Batters Up may not smell “good” or “nice”, but it’s squarely in my wheelhouse. The tarred maple bat note is pretty prominent.

    Feb 17, 2024 - Travel Shave Day 1

    • Brush: Stirling Soap Co. Green & Ivory 24mm Synthetic 2-Band Knot
    • Razor: BAILI BR 176
    • Blade: Gillette Platinum [1]
    • Lather: Barrister and Mann - Midnight Special - Soap
    • Post Shave: Lucky Tiger - Face Tonic - Aftershave (Alcohol Free)

I managed to find some DE blade in a local convenience store at my destination—not much of a selection, and not very cheap. I brought an inexpensive razor with me in my carry on just in case it was confiscated by airport security.
