    6/23/23

Went and got a fade last night, so barbershop was up again. Tried a different barbershop than usual, fade could be better. I really like Union. A very nice scent and definitely hits that barbershop vibe. I hindsight, wish I would’ve used Clubman for a post shave.

Woah! That’s a JMP signature blade. That’s a first-run Gen1. It doesn’t get better than that! Mine has the lyre on the blade. This came a little later.

Yes sir! I super lucked out with this one, especially for the price. I think I want to try and save for a NOS 13, or 14 if I can find one, at some point.

They are hard to come by and very expensive. I recently passed on a NOS 14 mostly because my Gen1 is in good-enough condition. I have a Gen2 12 Doble Temple, and a Gen3 13 Novadur which is a great shaver. I’ll be looking for a Gen1 or Gen2 Double Temple 13 in NOS or excellent-used condition after I get past my Japanese SR collecting phase.

    June 23, 2023 – Out of Season

    • Brush: Paragon Plisson Type 28 mm
    • Razor: Schick Injector
    • Blade: Schick Injector (3)
    • Preshave: Baxter Shave Tonic
    • Lather: Southern Witchcrafts – Autumn Ash
    • Post Shave: Old Spice – Indian

I was going to give the boar brush I boldly picked up from the PIF table from Maggards a go today after setting it last week in a handle I also picked up from there but in looking at it I don’t think it was ever broken in and possibly never actually used, which is actually a good thing. So I’m going to do that first. Instead I randomly selected a soap I picked up from said table and got… something incredibly unseasonal but also fantastic.

This was my first go with Southern Witchcraft, who is known for unique/challenging scents, and I love Autumn Ash. I find I like scents that go for evoking a place/time/thing over “smelling good.” This shouldn’t be misconstrued as Autumn Ash smelling bad but that it creates a complete scent of being out in the woods camping by a fire and truly evokes that moment to a tee instead of simply trying to evoke the scent by leaving out things that might not be everyone’s favorite. The base is slick too. I probably didn’t give it enough water, though, so going to try it out again with my next shave.

The Schick Injector is a perfectly fine shaver that you don’t have to pay any attention to but it ain’t great by any stretch of the imagination. I mostly just give it a whirl for fun every now and then. Even with a 3-pass I was more DFS than BBS.

No idea. It was in a bin with a few other brushes, no brand/label on it. I think it’s bleached because it doesn’t smell, but the tips aren’t broken at all and it’s pretty stiff so I’m assuming it’s new or rarely used.

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

New soap and a new brush. Thanks to @sahenders@sub.wetshaving.social for recommending WestMan Shaving Alma. Another terrific soap base and an amazing scent. I like rose scents and this one leans towards Eufros Rosa Oud but is lighter and a bit more refreshing. I’m very happy to have this one.

Wald brushes are incredible. Nuff said.

Finally trying out the SBS soap base. Good performance, marred slightly by me definitely needing to change this blade.

That said, this scent is amazing. Easily jumps straight into my top 10.

SBS is great. They did a Christmas soap a few years back that smelled like shaving with peppermint bark, it was fantastic.
